'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith renews contest with City.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he reminisces about the dramatic closing stages of his team's stunning fightback victory against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The game wrapped up with Galbraith briefly donning a fan's glasses following the pitch-side pile-on.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a powerful strike from outside the box, and his teammate promptly slammed home the rebound before racing off toward the home end to celebrate, with fans swarming the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The victory completed an incredible recovery given Swansea had trailed 2-0 midway through the final 45 minutes. Amid the euphoria, there was some collateral damage. Galbraith explained, "There was a supporter shouting out and we were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're humans, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The result secured a upcoming fixture at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith came close against at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. He had an excellent perspective when his former team took the lead in remarkable manner, with Jamie Donley's long-range effort from about way out going in via the crossbar and the opposition keeper. It feels criminal that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've awarded it to him for attempting the shot from that far out," commented Galbraith, who began the game centrally before moving to right flank after they changed tactics. That meant competing with Jack Grealish, with whom he traded tops, and the winger was among the Manchester squad who complimented the way Orient attacked the game.

Opponent's Class

"Fitness-wise they are very good but even the fundamentals and simple things, they can just do it over and over again," he explains. "It appears that they never miss a pass and they understand how to control and take the sting out of a game. You can feel you're doing well and then without warning they will just fizz a pass between defenders without you even seeing. You have to be focused throughout of the game. It requires a tough attitude and focus just to keep pace."

New Chapter

The Welsh side were keen on Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to bring him in in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He established himself as a popular figure across multiple campaigns at Orient and has swiftly done the same in his new home. At Orient he reunited with the coach, who previously gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in first-team action on loan at a League One side from Manchester United. Then came a loan at lower division the Manchester club, before he moved on from Manchester United.

Growth Journey

"I was perhaps a somewhat inexperienced going into men's football. I think a lot of players would say youth team games is very different. Sometimes it appears play is circulated without serious challenge. You see few physical contests. Once you start playing professional matches you have to learn quickly."

International Recognition

He has demonstrated that development for both domestically and internationally, excelling for Northern Ireland, who remain in contention for the World Cup next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has featured in the last several matches, including two matches games against a football powerhouse. The ex-coach, Galbraith's former international manager, paid him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he manipulates the ball and his ability to spot a killer pass.

Starting Out

This marks an incredible journey for the player from the Queens Park estate in Glengormley, just outside the capital, who grew up watching his father, his father, also a central player, play for his father's team.

Red Devils Debut

The player's sole appearance for United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a Europa League trip to the Kazakh capital, where they featured on an synthetic surface and the stadium roof was closed owing to conditions of -15C. "It was a long trip and it was freezing," he says, smiling. "The preceding week, the academy prospects practiced as a group, so that aided our adjustment. Just to travel with the first team and get a couple of minutes at the end was amazing."

Departing Old Trafford

What was the challenge was it to leave United, the club he transferred from aged a teenager? "This turned out relatively straightforward, because I arrived at the moment where I understood I wasn't going to make it at the senior squad. I'm hugely grateful for the time I spent there but it reached a stage where I felt I needed to go my own route, move to a lower level and play professional soccer. Now I'm steadily working my way back up."

New Environment

This occurs during the middle of the day at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has a commitment at 5pm: a driving theory test, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Before his recent move to his new neighborhood, the young professional was a constant rider in Swansea's so-called fun bus, a minibus driven by club employees, the transport team, which transports players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"My companions include Gonçalo Franco, another squad member, Malick Yalcouyé – Melker Widell used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's enjoyable to socialize with the lads but I'm aiming to be the subsequent individual to stop using the bus and driving. The Portuguese player enjoys practical jokes; he's always up to all sorts."

Public Engagement

While playing for his former club, Galbraith would blend in with supporters on the Tube after starting his journey at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
