Vehicles in Germany's City Found Marked with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Authorities stated they were notified by a individual who noticed a car in Hanau marked with reddish fluid

Approximately 50 vehicles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to authorities.

Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were defaced, sometimes with swastikas, they announced in a official communication.

Law enforcement say they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.

The fluid had been applied in the shape of a swastika, they stated.

Police then discovered numerous other smeared automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Police report initial examinations indicate the fluid was most likely blood from a person.

"Currently there is no indication as to its origin; investigators are presently not cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the incident," they stated.

City officials stated they were attempting "to unravel the mystery" and have asked to the public for tips.

A high-ranking representative said the vandalism left him stunned and needed to be resolved rapidly.

"This incident strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right attack in 2020," he wrote on a platform, referring to the killing of nine individuals by a assailant targeting residents of foreign heritage in February 2020.
